Getting closer to the end of 2019 means we should be expecting the next flagship chipset from Qualcomm. The successor to the Snapdragon 855+ is believed to be called the Snapdragon 865 and its preliminary specs were leaked by a reliable Chinese tipster. Qualcomm already announced it's holding its annual Tech Summit in early December and we can expect the Snapdragon 865 to make its official appearance then.
Alleged Snapdragon 865 specs
The upcoming flagship chipset is believed to be built on Samsung’s 7nm EUV process and will likely come in 4G and 5G variants. Diving into the specs the new leak suggests the Snapdragon 865 will come with a main ARM Cortex A77 core clocked at 2.84GHz alongside three more A77 cores running at 2.42GHz and four A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
On the GPU side, the 865 is believed to employ the Adreno 650 which should offer a 20% boost over the Adreno 640.
The CPU is also believed to be 20% faster than the Snapdragon 855+. Other speculations point that the chipset will support LPDDR5 RAM and we should see Samsung, Xiaomi and Sony as the first manufacturers to incorporate it in their flagship devices.
