How Toshiba Sets Up Parental Controls in Windows Vista

How Toshiba sets up parental controls in Windows Vista.

Toshiba AV Note

 1. In "Control Panel" - "User Accounts and Family Security" - "Parental Controls". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Click the standard user account for which you want to set up parental controls.

3. Under "Parental Controls", click "Enable".

4. After enabling parental controls for your child's standard user account, you can adjust the personal settings you want to control. You can control the following:

♦ Web restrictions. You can limit the websites children can access (making sure children only access age-appropriate websites), you can specify whether file downloads are allowed, and you can set what you want the content filter to block or allow. Specific websites can also be blocked or allowed. For more information, see Restrict what children can see online.

♦ Time limit. You can set time limits to control when children are allowed to log on to your computer. Time limits can prevent children from logging in for a specific period of time (and will automatically log them out if they are logged in). Different login periods can be set for each day of the week. For more information, see Controlling the time children can use the computer.

♦ Games. You can control access to games, select an age rating level, select the types of content to block, and determine whether to allow or block unrated games or specific games. For more information, see Specifying games that children can play.

5. Allow or block specific programs. You can prevent children from running programs that you do not want them to run.
